These two were more concerned about the eggs than smiling and sitting still. They proved to be very normal one year olds and were fun to watch as they did their own thing while adults made noises and jumped around to get their attention.

Discovery Place KIDS-Rockingham Kick-Off Celebration

Scheduled to open in early 2013, Discovery Place KIDS-Rockingham is a children’s museum that will serve children and their caregivers from throughout the Sandhills/South Central Piedmont region of North Carolina.

The new 20,000 square foot Museum will be a community-based, educational resource for children ages 0 -10 and a centerpiece of downtown Rockingham. Through rich learning experiences highlighting exploration, imagination and fun, Discovery Place KIDS will promote growth in language, cognition and mathematics while fostering curiosity and building confidence.

“It’s a great feeling to join with our friends in the Sandhills to commemorate what we have achieved so far together and to celebrate the start of construction on Discovery Place KIDS-Rockingham,” said John Mackay, president and CEO of Discovery Place, Inc. “Before you know it, we will be opening the doors on a new era of possibilities for the children of this region and much of the credit for that goes to the diligence, generosity and hospitality of the people who live here.”

I enjoyed capturing photos of Aubrey last year and was happy to schedule a session to shoot one year/Easter photos for Aubrey’s family. Aubrey offered many facial expressing for us in the studio and outside around the garden area.

The Thompsons Celebrate 50 years. I enjoyed directing and shooting photos of the family celebrating the Thompson’s 50th wedding anniversary. A party was scheduled following our photo session and it was fun watching friends and family members socialize and reminisce about the good ole days.

The Richmond County Photography Club

The purpose of the Club shall promote the interests of photographers by bringing together those who are interested in helping each other to produce better pictures, to educate, encourage, and expand the photographic knowledge and capabilities of its members by:

a) mutual education and learning in the science and art of photography,

b) promoting and encouraging advancement in the knowledge and practice of photography,

c) furnishing a meeting place where its members may associate.

The Richmond County Photography Club is open to anyone 16 years of age or older.

The April assignment is “The Sky.” Shoot many pics and bring your best 8×10 print to share with the group on April 19th.

The quarterly assignment “Travel” will be due during the June meeting.

We may have some future opportunities for some visitors from other photography clubs as well as photo walks.

Meetings are 6:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at Arts Richmond Center, 123 East Washington St. Rockingham, NC. Call 997-6008 for more information.
