Brandie and Houston

0

Brandie and Houston drove from Greensboro one evening for their photos session.  We met in Downtown Hamlet to shoot some couples photos for them.  While we shooting some random shots on a set of railroad tracks a freight train slowly approached us and stopped.  this could not have happened at a better time as if we had ordered it for the photo session.   I enjoyed working with the couple and look forward to working with them in the future.

This photo session was one of many mini sessions I had scheduled during a weekend at Hamlet Depot.

The Mabe Family in the Studio

Since the days are shorter and them temperatures are lower, I have  more requests for studio sessions than expected.   I am glad that I can provide an indoor location when the weather or lack of daylight doesn’t allow for an outside session.   The Mabe family came in ready to pose and we managed to get several combinations of the group photographed.

A special day for Jonathan and Sharon.

0

When Jonathan contacted me about photographing his wedding was more than glad to make arrangements.   I’ve known the Dawkins  family for several years and looked forward working with them.  I was also happy that the wedding was to take place at Ocean Isle beach.  This location was my very first beach wedding and was excited about returning for another ceremony.

The day also provided the opportunity to see some old friends and have lunch at a local restaurant called Sharky’s.  I”ve decided that Sharky’s is now a tradition for me prior to Ocean Isle Beach weddings.  I am excited about returning for another beach ceremony in a few weeks.

Being able to witness another wedding, enjoy a nice lunch, hang out with two great families and being barefoot on the beach with cameras makes for a great day.

The merging of two wonderful families is always a special moment and I wish Jonathan and Sharon all the best!

Lenea and Wade’s Production.

0

For as long as I have know Lenea she has had a love for the stage and a variety of live entertainment.  Participating on the technical side of numerous events made Lenea want to produce her own wedding in similar fashion. Participants, costumes, lighting and sound are just a few of the elements of a live show.    Lenea and Wade applied similar elements to their wedding.  They were the characters of their own production on stage with special lighting and sound.  It was a great show that continued to the reception hall.  The time and effort appeared to be worth every minute.  Congratulations to you both!

Congratulations to Katie and Kyle.

As with normal engaged couples Kyle and Katie had been planning her wedding for several months.  I spent time with Katie on a few occasions to discuss plans for the big day and it was obvious that she was very excited  about having an outdoor wedding in her hometown of Pinehurst.  One evening I received and email from Katie that they had to change the wedding date due to a request from the venue wanting to plan a Vince Gill Benefit concert.  Fortunately, Katie had not sent out invitations and they agreed to change their wedding to the following evening.  I was impressed that they agreed to wait one more day to allow the concert to be scheduled.  In exchange for changing the date, Katie and Kyle were treated to V.I.P. seating and Vince Gill acknowledged the couple during the concert.  What a great evening prior to your big day!   The threat of rain the following day didn’t slow anyone down and clouds moved past allowing for a wonderful ceremony and reception.  I had a great time working with Katie and Kyle as well as their families during the day.  Best wishes to the newlyweds!

Cooke Kids

0

I had the pleasure to spend some time photographing the Cooke kids during a beautiful spring morning in Southern Pines.  We met at Weymouth Gardens and despite the fact that it was a bit damp out from rain the day before we managed to use the facility to get some nice photos for them to share.  Young Ian warmed up to the camera quickly and provided some great poses.  It was nice working with the Cooke family.

Elise Senior Photo Session

0

I had the privilege of meeting Elise and her family in Cheraw South Carolina one evening to shoot Elise’s Senior photos.   Downtown Cheraw has several beautiful areas that we used.   It was interesting to me that Elise was an Audrey Hepburn fan and wanted to use a poster during her photo shoot.

Spring Photos – Emma stole the show.

This was one of the first 2011 spring photo sessions for me.  Once cute, little Emma got warmed up to the camera it was on!  She  provided some great poses as well as candid opportunities for me to photograph.  We had a wonderful day for pics and thanks to Rita for calling me to shoot more photo for her.  I love repeat customers!  I look forward to the BIG family photo shoot.

Senorita Jami

This photo shoot is one of my favorite type to schedule.  We started just as the sun was beginning to set and move fast to get as many shots and poses as possible.  I enjoy the golden light that is provided from the setting sun.  I also like shooting against the sunset and capturing some natural backlighting.    I usually have a list of poses at various areas within walking distance in my head as we begin the photo shoot.  Jami gave some great moves and kept up with me like she knew what I was going to direct next.

Almost Perfect.

0

We chose one of the first warm days of the winter season for this outdoor photo shoot of the band, Almost Perfect.  Four guys hanging out talking and joking with my flash units popping around them was probably entertaining for the wildlife out that day.  I know musicians and not all groups have the family vibe that these guys do.  This, in my opinion,  confirms that the group on stage is well worth the cover charge.  I look forward to the next photo shoot with these guys playing their favorite tunes for the fans.

Hillary and Monroe

0

Hillary and Monroe contacted me about shooting photos of them for their parents Christmas present.   We had to keep things on the down low and chose to meet at Weymouth Gardens in Moore County.  The fact that this took place late fall, the gardens are still beautiful and offered a good assortment of areas for us to use.  The lack of blooming plants and warm air didn’t prevent people from visiting the gardens.  Several people were walking pets and two other photo sessions were also taking place.  Hillary and Monroe are a great sister/brother combo and I enjoyed working with them.    Since Christmas, I have had the chance to visit their father’s office and view several photos from this session around his desk.

Hannah stay!!

0

Hannah loves to fetch a tennis ball.  She loves it so much that she would fetch 24/7 if someone was willing to throw the ball all of the time.  She is very patient in waiting for the ball to be thrown.  This allowed me to capture the pics below.

The packing house with Hadley and Sophia.

I had to work  fast to capture photos during this photo session.  The wind was blowing cold air and the girls were freezing.  Considering the uncomfortable weather,  the girls cooperated very well.  Little Sophia proved that she was one tough little girl by jumping back into action after doing a face plant into the dirt.  No fear!!!

Thanks to Christopher for assisting me with this photo sesssion.

Around town with Grady.

0

This senior photo session was arranged to take place in Downtown Rockingham, NC just before the holidays.   Cold temperatures and wind is a factor when shooting during this time of year.  Fortunately the sun kept the air from feeling too cold while we walked around downtown.  I like the colors from various buildings around town and Grady did a good job smiling when requested by mom.

Hayley Bayley Christmas!

0

I had the pleasure of arranging a photo shoot with Hayley just before Christmas.   The Arts Richmond Center, downtown Rockingham, provided great locations for these photos.  We spent several hours adjusting lights, positions and moving around the building where were shooting.

Getting technical:    I started with my Canon 50D and a 1000 watt softbox for some addional lighting if needed.  A pair of Canon 580exII flash units on top of FlexTT5’s by Pocket Wizard allowed me to add just enough light to each scene.  The MiniTTI Transmitter on my hot shoe tricks the camera into thinking that the flash attached.  The E-TTL metering though the lens tells the camera how much light is needed and this is relayed via the MiniTTI to the flash units.  The existing light from the room fixtures provided enough light to shoot at shutter speeds between 30and 250.  The remote flashes allowed me to chase away some of the shadows without loosing the colors from the Christmas lights.  Hayleys patience allowed me to move the flashes around until I located the perfect placements for them.  I started with an apeture of 4.0 and then moved it to 5.6 to bring the window frame into the focus better.  Good, geeky camera fun!

Mabe family potrait session

0

This photo session took place during one of the most beautiful days of the 2010 fall season.  The trees had just begun to change and the overcast sky prevented the temps form being too hot.   The Mabe family came out prepared for several group and individual shots in hope of capturing a set of photos for their new home.  Skipping rocks was probably the most memorial part of this photo shoot for the three boys.
